The Red Bull Dark Knights was held at the Singapore Sports Hub for 2016 and it was an awesome night. Ben Moore emerged at the top of the podium and local pinner Chee Keong Ng snagged the fastest local time, while Indonesian shredder Popo Ariyo got third.

Red Bull Dark Knights took over the Singapore Sports Hub On June 4 crowning Ben Moore and Fitriyanti Riyanti, the champions of the men’s and women’s titles respectively. Ng Chee Keong, was awarded the Local Hero Award with a time that also put him in second place for the men’s championship.

Despite the steady drizzle that delayed the start of the sessions, a total of 248 riders took part from countries such as Indonesia and the United Kingdom. The 400m downhill course started from inside the National Stadium down six levels of the Singapore Sports Hub and finished at the Waterfront Promenade amidst fast turns, narrow stairwells and a 2 metre vertical drop.

As the third instalment of the series, Red Bull Dark Knights was previously held at Pearls Hill in 2013 and Kent Ridge in 2011, and is the first time that Red Bull Dark Knights has been hosted in an urban setting, creating a brand new challenge for the riders.

“The atmosphere here is fantastic, what a nice country! The course was brilliant, the beginning part was very tight, one of the tightest I’ve experienced in a downhill race, but what an atmosphere, thank you Red Bull Dark Knights for this!” says Ben Moore, 26.

“I’m really happy to have the chance to take part in Red Bull Dark Knights, because it’s something that I’ve wanted to do for a while. So thank you for the opportunity!” says Fitriyanti Riyanti, 25.
